Signs it is time to redesign
If your site takes more than three seconds to load, looks dated on mobile, or your team dreads making even small content changes, a redesign is overdue. The cost of standing still is real: slow sites lose search rankings over time, and outdated design erodes trust before a visitor ever reads your copy.
A redesign is also the right moment to fix structural issues - confusing navigation, duplicate or thin content, and pages that were never built with conversion in mind.
WordPress to Next.js migrations
Many of our redesign projects are WordPress sites that have accumulated years of plugins, page builder bloat, and technical debt. We migrate these to Next.js with a headless CMS - either keeping WordPress as a content API or moving to a purpose-built headless platform - so your team keeps a familiar editing experience while the frontend becomes dramatically faster and more secure.
This is not a like-for-like rebuild. We use the migration as an opportunity to fix information architecture, consolidate duplicate content, and rebuild templates around current SEO and conversion best practices.
Protecting your search rankings
A redesign done carelessly can wipe out years of organic search equity. Before any development starts, we run a full URL and content audit, document every indexed page, and build a one-to-one redirect map from old URLs to new ones. Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, and internal links are preserved or intentionally improved - never dropped by accident.
After launch, we monitor indexing status, crawl errors, and organic traffic closely for the first four to six weeks to catch and fix anything before it affects rankings meaningfully.
Redesign vs. rebuild: which do you need?
A redesign refreshes the look, content, and UX of your existing pages on the same platform. A rebuild changes the underlying technology as well, usually to fix performance or scalability limits the current platform cannot solve. We help you decide which one your business actually needs during a short discovery call, rather than defaulting to the bigger, more expensive option.
Content decisions that matter more than design
Most redesign projects spend the bulk of their attention on visual design, but the content decisions underneath drive more of the SEO and conversion outcome. Before we touch layout, we decide which pages to keep as-is, which to consolidate because they compete for the same search terms, which to retire because they no longer serve a purpose, and which new pages the site needs to fill gaps in the current information architecture. Getting this sequencing wrong - designing before deciding on content - is the most common reason redesign projects run over budget.
Staged launch reduces risk
Rather than flipping every page live at once, we favor a staged launch where possible: lower-traffic sections go first so we can validate redirects, tracking, and rendering behavior before the highest-value pages switch over. This limits the blast radius of any unexpected issue and gives us real production data to confirm Core Web Vitals and search visibility before the full site is live on the new platform.
Our redesign process
Content and URL audit, information architecture, design system, build on the chosen platform, redirect mapping and QA, staged launch, then post-launch monitoring. Every redesign includes a 30-day support window so any issues surfaced by real traffic get fixed quickly, and a documented handoff so your team understands exactly how content and redirects are structured going forward.
FAQ
Will a redesign hurt my current search rankings?
Not if planned correctly. We audit URLs, build a full redirect map, and preserve metadata so rankings carry over.
Do you redesign within WordPress or move us to Next.js?
It depends on your goals - we migrate to Next.js for performance and flexibility, or redesign within WordPress if that fits your team's workflow better.
How long does a redesign or migration take?
Most redesigns run six to ten weeks depending on page count and content migration complexity.
What happens to our existing content during migration?
We inventory every page, decide what to keep or retire, and migrate into the new structure with clean URLs and updated metadata.
Outgrown your current site?
Share your current URL and goals - we will tell you honestly whether you need a redesign or a full rebuild.
